Tara Harley - Writer/Director

I'm an experienced actor/dancer/musician and collaborator. I graduated from drama school in ‘91 and helped to set up Birmingham’s first pub theatre 'The New Birmingham Theatre Company’. I gained a lot of experience and spent many years performing in a variety of shows and running my own performance spaces at festivals. I worked mainly in community projects devising pieces or re-writing old scripts and bringing a new flavour to  outdated works.  In recent years I have been concentrating on writing and I enjoy writing larger productions with strong female roles. I also enjoy comedy in all it’s different forms; from slapstick to wit and from banter to physical gags.  I have tried to incorporate these varying aspects into 'Therapy' so that it can be enjoyed by all. Therapy was premiered at the Marlborough Theatre in 2015 and sold out its 3 night run. It was met with a very positive response from both audience and reviewers and gave me the confidence  to stage it again.  I have spent two years saving and re-writing, to make the show even better than before.  Therapy will be played in Lewes, Brighton and London and I am looking for either a collaborator-producer or company to take it further. Any interested parties please get in touch.

La La Theatre

Born in 2015, the name came about because I wanted to put on shows that were a little bit off the beaten track, that provoke a reaction. I always believe that theatre should be an experience that grabs you; The logo of a pretty but frazzled fairy captures the essence of allowing yourself to dream, to soar high but not so much that you don't look where you're going! To remind us that pretty doesn't mean flawless and that things aren't always as they appear.  It has nothing to do with the Hollywood film! In fact that came later! :)

Mission

To offer good quality, affordable theatre in  community settings that may not  be strictly used for theatre, to encourage people that may not usually go to shows a new experience. I aim to offer auditions to actors that may have had a leave of absence due to illness or have been raising a family. I think it is important to be able to offer a start to those that have had previous training and have the skills but have lost their confidence.  La La Theatre offers a platform  for professional actors to rebuild their skills and begin treading the boards again.  'Therapy' includes  two actresses  and one actor  with young children.

Future Productions.

I have recently written a fairy tale-panto.  'The Princess, Her Toe and the Tower of Bo.'  It is bonkers, funny, thought provoking  and although containins some adult humour, is suitable for all the family.  I'm looking for a collaboration and a long run.  The first read through met with great feedback.  Please get in touch if you are interested.
